At the Chinese European Water Platform, opened by Mr Chen Lei, Chinese Minister of Water Resources, a sub forum of the 6th WWF, Pieter-Christiaan van Oranje, head of AGT International in the Netherlands, presented the increasing collaborative efforts between the European Private sector and the Chinese authorities on water management. Speaking in front various European and Chinese dignitaries, including Vice-Commissioner Mr Xu Cheng of the YRCC, Pieter-Christiaan stressed the importance of EU-Chinese innovation for water management solutions and said that “the private sector should be more predominant in our mutual relationships” and “we should drive solutions to protect citizens and reduce economic impact in a smart way”. A key collaboration between AGT International and the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) has already seen the development of a long term program surrounding the AGT International Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) in the Yellow River’s local environment. “We are honoured to work, collaborate and learn with our Chinese counterparts to apply the latest, most innovative solutions in a country in the most need of water management solutions”.
